We return to the 3rd Annual Ben Lujan Leadership and Public Policy Institute held at New Mexico Highlands University on May 19 &20, 2008. This show features a presentation by William Gonzales, a parciante and acequia leader in the Rio Gallinas watershed near Las Vegas, New Mexico. Mr. Gonzales explains to us why the acequias of the Rio Gallinas can be considered the “poster child” of the acequia struggle in New Mexico, having experienced many of the challenges that many acequias have faced or will face in the future.
We also hear a live recording of “Padre Querido” by Juan Ortega, thank you Mr. Ortega.
Special thanks to Cipriano Vigil for our theme music.
